West Music East

Autumn 2005 - The Orchestra of Düsseldorf University goes on a three-week tour of Asia. Under the musical direction of Silke Löhr, they perform works of Beethoven, Wagner, Schumann and Bizet in the megacities of Beijing, Shanghai and Tokyo. The tour is also accompanied by six students on the Sound and Video Engineering degree course. Under the guidance of Prof. Manfred Waffender and with Alexander Bach directing, the result is a 60-minute documentary that tells the story of a journey and its adversities. But additionally, and not least, west music east also documents six unforgettable concerts and tells of the unreserved enthusiasm of the Chinese and Japanese audiences.
