Tristan Thönnissen, born 1966, studied Visual Media at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna with Peter Weibel. A growing enthusiasm for mass media and interactive applications evolved while studying and this led to numerous employments at TV stations and agencies. Most influenctial were works for the development of the graphics departments of Pro7 (1991), VOX (1992 to 1993) and the virtual 3D exhibition of the academy of sciences in Vienna (1996).
In 1995, he joined the artist group mediamorph and moved to Berlin. Works inbetween the fields of fine art, media, brand and techno came into existence as videos, events and interactive applications.
Establishing his own business MINT interactive media followed in 1996. Since then, he developed works mainly in the area of culture and information, be it touch screens or websites on the one hand, graphics, explanatory pieces, animations, interactive programmings for TV stations, image films and events on the other hand.
Industrial references are particularly: ARD, BAT, Expo2000, Panasonic, PRO7, SAT1, Siemens, VOX.
Tristan Thönnissen is teaching motion graphics and web design at the Institute For Music And Media of the University of Music Duesseldorf since 2005.
