The Digital Visual Media lab offers students access to a XSAN-network. Eight clients (Mac Pro Intel Xeon 2x2660 Dual Core SD) are connected to an Xserve Fileserver with an approx. 10 TByte Xserve Raid System via Fibre Channel. It is a mass storage network solution for processing large data in professional post production of audio visual media. A Xsan client can, theoretically, submit up to 400 MB/sec. through Fibre Channel-Multipathing, meaning, one computer is connected to SAN via two Fibre Channel-cables. This network technology is ideal for a team of students collaborating on a project or for a computer clusters requiring fast access to data.

All workstations are equipped with a 23" Apple Cinema Display and numberous audio and video processing software.
