Sound broadcasting van 2
The second, rather old sound broadcasting van of the Institute For Music And Media has been decommissioned as unroadworthy for reasons of age, and has hence been turned into another of the institute’s mix editing studios.
From the third semester onwards, it offers the students the opportunity to engage with the conditions and difficulties of a digital studio.
For sound, a 5.1 setup is available.
It is mostly used for mixing, and if necessary can serve as a backup mix editing studio for the Partikasaal sound control room. The interior is acoustically optimised, and two silent air-conditioning systems ensure the comfort of the students. The three digital Tascam multitrack recorders can be synchronised with a video source by timecode. With the assistance of an additional video input device (e.g. from the IMM video equipment) it is possible to use the broadcasting van for film mixing. A Motu interface additionally allows projects to be processed on a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) with the installed Nuendo sequencer software.
The power supply requires a 32-Amp connection.
